Massage with Cupping
Cupping therapy is an ancient practice dating back to 1,550 B.C., described in the Ebers Papyrus. This technique involves the therapist placing cups on the skin to create suction, aiming to: boost blood flow revitalizing connective tissue and loosening adhesions and drain excess fluids and toxins.
What are the potential benefits of cupping therapy?
- Reduce pain and inflammation
- Decrease muscle tightness
- Improve blood circulation
- Increase range of motion
- Immune system modulation.
- Stimulate the peripheral nervous system
The suction force applied during cupping therapy breaks open tiny blood vessels called capillaries under your skin. This may result in red, round cupping therapy marks that should fade in a week or two. Although these marks will look like bruises, they’re not true bruises that injure muscle fibers.
